Is Progesterone Level Of 38 A Cause For Concern?
My cycles vary between 27 and 30 days is this a good indication that I do ovulate?
I am really concerned that I may not be able to conceive.
I have had unprotected sex for 15 years but sex has not been regular like maybe only once a month. I have never been pregnant.
Me and my husband now want to try for a baby but I am 41. My GP has done some blood tests and sperm count and all is normal.
I have a mental block that I don't ovulate. I have used Clearblue fertility monitor for 2 months and have only ever had low and high days with no peak days.
My GP says forget all test strips and monitors and just have regular sex. Do I ovulate even though monitor never shows it? I am overweight with a current BMI of 45. I am working on getting this down.
Do you think I can conceive naturally and how do I know I ovulate please?
How many times a week do you recommend intercourse and why does fertility monitor show no peak is it likely I don't ovulate or should I forget the monitor?
Do you see I am menopausal?
FSH 6.9 u/l
LH 2.0 u/l
oestradiol 179 pmol/l
Day 21 progesterone 38
Do you think I can conceive naturally though and the day 21 progesterone is a good indicator for ovulating x
.
The hormonal level is normal.
Detailed Answer:
Welcome and thank you for asking on HCM!
I have gone carefully through your concern.
The hormonal level you reported is normal fortunately. You are not in menopause.
At your age the ovarian reserves are decreased and you should be monitored by an obstetrician because you do mot have time to loose.
An ovarian ultrasound would be the best way to monitor the period of ovulation and the obstetrician will give you the exact time when to try to concieve.
There are also other hormonal tests useful to exclude other pathologies that cause infertility ( thyroid, prolactin ect). Your obstetrician will guide you further.
At your age is not recommended to wait one year to conceive naturally, It may be too late.
Hope the information will help.

Regarding infertility at 40-ies;
Detailed Answer:
Hello again,
The hormonal profile is normal, he is right. But the ultrasound of the ovaries and Antimyllerian hormone will help to see the ovarian reserves.
If he considers the weight gain as the only cause of infertility at this age i would disagree.
Except of ovarian ultrasound and AMH, a TSH level would be hrlpful too.
Wish you good health.
Kind regards,
Dr.Mirjeta
My cycle this time has been 26 days I had progesterone test on day 21 which is 38 is this normal?
About attached reports.
Detailed Answer:
Hi again,
I read the attached reports. The TSH is within normal ranges, the vit D is low (in obese people is found often in these levels).
The HbA1 level is in the limits, so you need to loose weight to avoid gestational Diabetes in the future.
The ovarian volume is normal, but there is a 2.7 cm cyst that should be consulted by the obs&gyn.
The Antimyllerian hormone is not checked. It gives useful information about the ovarian reserves at your age.
The progresteron is normal.
Wish you good health.
Kind regards,
