Is Scoliosis With Degenerative Spondylolisthesis Progressive?
Question: Dear Doc ,
I have read somewhere that scoliosis with degenerative stenosis is most likely to progress 3 degrees every year ! Why are are doctors still reasuring me that what i have is mild and unlikely to progress even if i have mild stenosis ! Can you please explain ? And should i continue to exercise as i have no symptoms at all and never had any pain in my back .. I seek your medical advice for the progression likelihood and if my mild 18 degrees scoliosis is considered idiopathic or degenerative .. I know that the degenerative one is more dangerous and has more likelihood to progress ... Thank you for your feedback and kind support ..please find attached the medical report and xray.

Brief Answer:
Get some basic investigations done
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.
Scoliosis can be primary or secondary to some cause.
In patients with scoliosis since birth or childhood progression may not be much and a stable course can be expected. In cases with some secondary cause like metabolic disorder , bone disease or infection the scoliosis may progress.
You should get your initial metabolic workup done like calcium, phosphate , vitamin D 3, parathyroid hormone, SALP.
MRI spine may be required if some nerve involvement or symptoms present.
Hope you found the answer helpful.
Do get back with further queries.
