Is Sodium Hypochlorite Used In Dental Procedures?
Question: Assistant gave me 50% diluted sodium hyperchlorite for irrigation of extraction socket instead of sodium chloride 0.9%
For irrigation. The site was irrigated with proper irrigation after this was realized. No apparent necrosis visible. Patient reports no pain or swelling 2 hours after procedure. Local anesthetic had worn off. I did notify patient. Your thoughts.?

So please confirm that the solution you used was Sodium hypochlorite or hyperchlorite so that I can guide you accordingly..

Hi..
Welcome Back..
As per your query it seems that the solution is sodium hypochlorite only and as it was dilute by 50% and had no necrotic changes over the tissues, you need not to worry as it will hopefully not cause any necrotic changes as it is already 2 hours passed..
Otherwise a concentrated solution has by now caused ulceration and dissolution of tissues..
But still to be on a safer side you should follow up with the patient after 24 hours to let him/her as well as yourself to be at ease..
Hope this helps..
Regards..
