Is Soreness At Back Of Throat Suggestive Of Tonsil Cancer?

Question: I felt something different at the back of my throat about 3 weeks ago. This past weekend I noticed it was sore when I was having some steak. I inspected the area and it is tender to touch at the top of my palatoglossal arch on the back right. It feels tight when I open my mouth wide as well. It was looked at by a family doctor and he told me he saw nothing. I was worried because a friend just got diagnosed with tonsil cancer. Thoughts?
Brief Answer:
can get a more detailed check up
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for your query.
Only soreness or tenderness doesn't suggest cancer. Is there any lump or ulcer? That would be more concerning. And the fact that your family doctor did not find anything is reassuring.
But as it is already 3 weeks and still there, I would recommend a check up by ENT doctor. If that is also normal, then nothing to worry about.
Hope this helps. I will be available for follow up.
