Is Swelling Of Esophagus Due To HIV?
No sighn of candidiasis and HIV infection is unlikely.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to HCM.
Thanks for posting your query.
First of all don't get information on websites and make yourself got depressed. That will lead to unnecessary confusion only.
I saw the pictures sent by you. There was no sign for oral thrush at all. Your tongue was not inflamed. No curdy deposits over either tongue, buccal cavity or palate or tonsillar area. All white coating are not due to candidiasis. The presence of candida in the throat on investigation might be due to a normal flora and non pathogenic when you are immuno-competent. Your report of swelling of esophagus also not necessarily due to HIV.
You had not mentioned anything about your sexual activities, when you had your HIV test and what was the type (antigen or antibody type) of test you had.
Increased level of bilirubin without changes in liver enzyme level might be due to certain drugs also and it would settle spontaneously after sometime and can be ignored. Tonsillitis is common problem can occur to anybody. Your physician would take care of such problems easily.
You are unlikely to have HIV infection.

Once again assured that you are free from HIV infection.

Hi,
Welcome back.
You have only monogamy relationship. Rapid test means antibody based test only. It is almost sure that you are not having HIV.
Removal of gall bladder might be a reason for increased bilurubin level without any alteration in liver enzymes.
So you need not worry at all.

Chest pain can occur, but painful swallowing is more common with esophagitis
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome back.
Esophagitis in HIV is a very late manifestation and can occur after 10 or more years after the infection (That too, in the absence of ART or immunity declines beyond a critical level). Swollen esophagus would not be visible in a plain X-ray, can be visualized only with contrast pictures.
Odynophagia (pain during swallowing) is the commonest symptom with esophagitis and usually associated with oral thrush. In your case there is no oral thrush seen in the picture sent by you.
Chest pain can be a presentation for esophagitis.

All the white coating over tongue is not necessarily due to candidiasis
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to HCM Back.
In two pictures Iam not able to find any evidence for candidiasis, whereas one is doubtful.
All white coating is not due to oral thrush. One can have white coating without a candidiasis, which sometimes need to be cleaned for some individuals. Presence of Non-pathogenic candidiasis in oral cavity is not uncommon.
Gall bladder surgery can have some repercussions over the white deposits of the tongue. That may be well explained by your GI Specialist rather than me. Soft tissue would not be visualized better with an ordinary plain X ray.
