Is Swollen Armpit A Symptom Of Lymphadenitis?
May be hidradenitis..
Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Read your history and understood your concerns.
To recapitulate: Female/47 - recently discovered *small swelling in left armpit - *NO lump - worried - looked online - lymphedema - no surgery - some *symptoms kind of you are experiencing - Doctor's appointment on 16th - wants to know whether to wait or go to Emergency Room - just swollen and little numbness.
very slight .....
With the history your have provided, you may be having seborrhoid dermatitis or hidradenitis in which skin of the armpit gets the changes you have noticed.
Lymphadenitis is on a very large scale and involved the arm on the same side.
Please give me some information for me to assist further:
- What is the size of the swelling?
- Since when have you developed this?
- Any lump in the breasts?
- Any other physical check up or investigations like Mammogram or ultrasound of the breasts and armpits and neck?
- Any other history you would like to share?
- Please post the very clear photos 'if possible' - as this helps me to have on-the-spot diagnosis in some cases.
I hope this answer helps you, please feel free to ask for further relevant queries if you feel that there is a gap of communication...
It's in front of armpit following curve - slight. A bit swollen & tender, that's why I think it's some sort of infection(?) Not a hard lump, but maybe it's putting pressure on something to cause slight tingling in that arm.
- Since when have you developed this?
Noticed a couple of weeks ago, set up appt with doctor for the 16th.
- Any lump in the breasts?
No, can't feel anything
- Any other physical check up or investigations like Mammogram or ultrasound of the breasts and armpits and neck?
Not yet. But slight dizziness this morning but for a split second and tired.
- Any other history you would like to share?
Healthy otherwise. I may go to the Urgent Care this am, should I get blood work? If it's infection, just worried about it spreading and/or turning into something?!
Visit Urgent care and get investigated and treated properly
