Is The Pregnancy Advisable When Detected With Chorio Decidual Separation?

default
Posted on Tue, 2 Dec 2014
Question: I am pregnant 7 weeks, 1 days. In Ultra sound Minimal evidence of chorio decidual separation is seen. Doctor has advised complete bed rest which is not possible. I have another 2.5 yrs old daughter to look after with virtually no support apart from Husband who is away for works from 9 AM to 7 PM. I fear that as this is a high risk pregnancy, with the passage of time things will become more difficult and may be life will be at risk if abortion happens at later stage of pregnancy. Also, there may be chances that with chorio decidual separation, fetal growth will be subdued due to less supply of oxygen & nutrients. Please suggest should I stop it at this level only or try to complete it with such risks.

Brief Answer:
Continue Pregnancy

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Welcome to healthcare Magic.

I have gone through your query and Would like to reply in detail as follows:

1. The choriodecidual separation leading to bleeding could be a temporary phenomenon and generally heals and successful pregnancy follows.

2. Even if you dont take complete bed rest ( which is not required) there are good chances that pregnancy will continue successfully.

3. There will not be any life threatening complications or events because of this now or later stage of pregnancy. Hence no need to abort this baby.

4. The baby growth will not be affected due to either nutrition or oxygen deficiency.

5. My advice would be to continue pregnancy with whatever possible care you can give.

I hope your doubt is clarified. Let me know if you wish any other information.

Regards,
Dr. Soumya

Dear Dr XXXXXXX

Thanks for the clarification. I have been less comfortable in this pregnancy with lots of symptoms feeling weak, lazy and nauseating almost 80% of time. I got this report on 5th Nov and since then my mental make-up has been depressed and I am more inclined towards dropping it as I don't want to spoil my little daughter's childhood. I am absolutely feeling helpless in able to attend her needs. Although my Gynec has advised to manage by hiring 24 hr maid/help. Please advise.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

These are normal symptoms. There is nothing to worry. Your pregnancy seems to be going on well. Even if you cant hire maid, do with whatever resources you have.

I am positive that you will have successful pregnancy and all this trouble will be worth it. Meanwhile attend to needs of present daughter and you will feel better with her. Dont think of dropping pregnancy.
