Is There A Need For Antibiotics Even If Fever Is Not Present?

Question: Can a person have a need for antibiotics even though a fever is not present?
Hi XXXXXX,
Welcome to Healthcare Magic.
Antibiotics are the group of medicines used to treat infections.
Infection can be there without causing fever or fever may appear later on.
Very elderly and children below 1year, diabetics, kidney and liver failure patients, cancer patients and those having low blood pressure due to burden of acute infection may not produce fever rather may be paradoxically cold.
They may have other signs/markers of infection like high WBC, CRP or findings on chest Xray or Urine examination.
These patients need to be treated with antibiotics even if they do not have fever.
I hope the advise would be helpful for you.
