What Causes Pain In Liver Area After Taking MDMA?

Hi Dr. This is about MDMA (ecstasy) Im 25 years old and made the mistake of doing 120 mg of mdma when i had doubts about my liver (enzymes 10 to 20 points above normal). immediately after i started experiencing a slight pain in my liver area. doctors tell me it is not serious but to watch my diet and not to drink. but i dont think they read about how MDMA is known to cause severe liver failure after day to weeks after use. with the fact that my liver is not feeling better after 5 days, i am extremely concerned. i am going back to my home country tomorrow where i will be doing tests. i was wondering if many people have expereienced this and it improved back to normal or if this means i am in for a serious problem¿ thanks

Hi,

Keep a close eye on your liver enzymes (GPT and GOT, in some countries called ALAT and ASAT). If they rise, especially the GOT, you should rush to an emergency room. Also, have an eye on the color of your urine, skin and eyes. If all gets a yellowish color (the urine even when you drink a lot of water) that’s another alarming signal.

The liver itself has no nerve endings. That means the organ itself cannot cause pain! So the pain must have another source. However, follow the warnings and go to an ER if you have the feeling something is wrong. Better safe than sorry. And please stop taking these drugs. Bad for your mind and your body.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
