Is Travelling Advisable While Having Unexplained Purple Bruise Like Spots On The Thighs?
Question: Hullo, thank you for your assistance. My right hand side thigh (from inner to outer, all the way across) has suddenly developed lots of large purplish bruises for no reason that I know of. My main concern is that I am meant to fly (2 hours) this Friday 7/4/17 and return (2 hour flight) on the 9th April and I don't know if it is safe to do so with the unexplained extensive bruising. Can you tell what you think, please.
Brief Answer:
Could be healing purpuric rash
Detailed Answer:
Hi , I am Dr.Gopal Goel orthopedic surgeon.
I have seen the picture and there brownish rashes all across your thigh .These do not appear to be due to any active bleeding but healing purpuric rashes( minor venous bleeding). Also the veins in your thigh appear to be dilated.
In my opinion, you Blood tests PT and PTTK to rule out any bleeding disorder and a color Doppler to assess the condition of your veins. If everything is all right then you could fly safely.
Thanx for the question and please feel free to ask any further question.
