Is Treatment Required If A Child Accidentally Ingests Xanax?
Question: I think I dropped a 1 mg Xanax. If my child finds it how dangerous is this. Should I take him to tghe hospital?
Brief Answer:
Observe closely and get her to hospital if you find anything abnormal
Detailed Answer:
Hello
I can understand your concern.
Xanax contains alprazolam a sedative. It is harmful (may cause excessive sleepiness or even respiratory depression) if taken in excess dosage.
1 mg is an adult dose and it may be toxic for a 2 year old child.
As you are not sure whether your baby has consumed it or not,I suggest you to observe closely and if you notice that baby is getting drowsy or if there is any breathing difficulty take him immediately to an emergency room.
If you are very anxious you can get him to the hospital for observation.
Regards
