Brief Answer:
She should get vaccinated for whooping cough vaccination

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Thanks for asking on this platform

Whooping cough also known as pertussis is a highly contagious infection of respiratory tract.
It can be best prevented with vaccination. In U.S. DTaP vaccine is given to children below 6 years of age.Ideally vaccination should get started from the age of 2 months and a total of 6 dosage need to be given at 2,4,6 months, from 15 through 18 months and from 4 to 6 years.
It can be started even at 5 months of age.Large outbreaks of whooping cough has been noted in U.S. in recent years. So I would recommend you to get her vaccinated for whooping cough.Vaccination has an efficacy of up to 85% for protecting from the disease.
There are few side effects but these are very uncommon and its benefit outweighs the side effects.
You have mentioned that she has come to your place.Vaccination policy varies in different countries.I would like to know from which place she has come and also whether she has been vaccinated for any disease till date or not.

I hope this helps please get back with the answer so that I better able to help you out.
Also let me know if you have any more query.
Thanks and regards
