Brief Answer:
It could be due to bowel peristalsis.

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

The cramps could be due to peristaltic movement of the bowel. Once the peristaltic wave is over, pain subsides. At the age of 74, the movement of the bowel will also be sluggish.

* Please take plenty of liquids.
* Avoid pain killers which cause constipation.
If you are getting this pain only after eating wheat bran, you can stop that.

Hope I answered your query. If you have any questions, I will clarify further.

I wish you good health.

Brief Answer:
Discontinue wheat bran

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

Please discontinue wheat bran for 2 weeks and see the response.
You can take fruits like banana, guava etc., which are helpful in constipation.

If the symptoms are not relieved, I shall prescribe a Pre and Probiotic capsule twice daily to my patients.

Hope I have answered your query. I wish you good health.
