MRI Showed Small Focal Area Of Undermining Of The Anterosuprior Labrum. What Does This Mean?
Question: MRI Arthrogram report:
Acetabular labrum appears intact. There is small focal area of undermining of the anterosuprior labrum which has appearance of normal labral cartilaginous cleft. Articular cartilage is normal. No evidence of joint body.
What is the next step in treatment for my hip pain?

Hi,
Acetabular labrum is a like a cushion for two bones in hip to avoid friction. You have normal variation of it, known as cartilaginous cleft.
Articular cartilage means a part in labrum, like cotton in pillow, which smoothen the movement of joint. It is also normal.
Now regarding the hip pain, there are multiple causes of hip pain.
It may be referred pain from knee joint or may be radiculopathy from nerve compression at lumbar spine disc level.
You must contact board certified orthopaedician to have detailed physical examination, and then only go for next investigation.
Any follow ups are welcome.
Regards.
