Small knot behind ear can be due to
1.Enlarged lymph nodes,It is commonest cause for a lump behind ear.It can occur secondary to infections .
2.Sebaceous cyst particularly those which are inflamed.
3,Mastoiditis,It is infection of mastoid bone which is present behind ear.
There can be other causes too,but above mentioned are somewhat more common in day to day practice.
For making a diagnosis it will be better if you upload a photograph of the lump. There is a facility available in this forum for uploading a photograph.
I will also like to request you to send the following details about your case.
1.Duration of lump.(since months,weeks etc)
2.Nature of pain (severe,mild etc)
3.feeling of lump(soft,hard etc)
4.history of fever ,ear discharge, sore throat in recent past
5.Any other significant information which you think important.
I can guide you in a better way once you send case details with photograph.
I hope we can continue our discussion once you send the details.Take care.
