Noticed Water Filled Bumps On Finger. Not Having Pain Or Fever. What Should Be Doe?

Question: Hi my son has 2 bumps that look like water filled blisters... One busted then it came back yhe same day... They are close together and look like they have spots in the middle of them... Please help?? They are on the inside of his index finger... He has 2 more on his other hand around his knuckle... No fever or pain???

Water filled blisters of about 2x2 mm. size do appear in children usually when they play in th garden. In most of the instances they are following insect bites and subside on their own. In case the size is larger and they are appearing in crops and on other parts of the body then an examination by the doctor is warranted to rule out chickenpox or any other contagious disease.

I hope I have cleared your doubts. In case there is any fresh development then kindly revert along with a photograph of the blister/lesion for review.

Hi Im just worried they have been on his hand for 3 or 4 days now... Ill try to get a picture to load up is that really all this could be??? They have gotton larger over the 3 day period...

Thanks for uploading the picture. The picture is so clear that it helps me in excluding conditions like scabies.

Such lesions occur usually due to allergy to something that the child has handled. They should subside on their own. As you mentioned that they have gotten larger then you should apply a mild steroid ointment on it twice a day.

Hi yesterday my son started scratching his pinky finger and two more small blisters have appeared on the inside crease of his finger sane hand...Also on his upper arm (the opposite arm) he has a red spot about the size of a quarter and it had the 3 or 4 blisters on it but he scratched it and I really couldn't tell... He don't act sick at all I'm just really worried... Sorry I'm typing this while Im holding him.. So please excuse the grammar..

I can understand your anxiety on the repeated appearances of the blisters, especially after scratching. What was he doing before the scratching started? Was he handling something which may be irritating his fingers? I know it is not easy to recollect but by observation over a period of time and exclusion it may be possible to find what is causing the reactions.

What was the response to the application of the mild steroid ointment that I advised on 9 September? Did it relieve him? In case it was not applied then kindly apply and observe.

The onitment could have work I couldn't really tell the had started drying up before... I'm just worried because of his arm and then the other one that came on his pinky finger 4 or 5 days later with a very small almost beside of it... I keep thinking he is pawing it to other parts of his body... Could this something serious... Everywhere I read on the Internet says so many different things... The one I wad worried about was when you read about herpes... Didn't see much about it just a couple of times... If it was something that serious would he be sick along with bumps... Thanks

The photo that you uploaded definitely does not suggest Herpes. It appears to allergic reaction to some item and we need to find the offending item which is not easy. The item can range from a host of things to which the child comes in contact. To remove your anxiety I would suggest that you consult a dermatologist who shall take a detailed history and examine the child to come to a conclusion.
