Pills To Slow Down Bleeding, Fibroid, Anemia. Possibilities?
Thanks for the Query.
I Would like to know few more things, which would help me in suggesting you better,
1.) Since how long do you have this Problem?
2.) Are your Periods Prolonged?
3.) Do you have Pelvic Pain?
4.) Do you Pass Urine frequently?
5.) Do you get backache?
Uterine Fibroids also called Fibromyomas are non-cancerous growths that appear during childbearing years and rarely require treatment only when they cause discomfort, sharp Pelvic pains or Profuse Menstrual Bleeding.
You have been prescribed Oral Contraceptives (OCs) which will definitely help you control your menstrual bleeding, but they don't reduce fibroid size. Fibroids grow under the Hormonal Influence and do not interfere with your fertility and don't pose any problem in you conceiving and they gradually shrink when you attain Menopause.
OCs will control your Bleeding, and you will have to stop taking them a week prior when you plan to conceive. Speak to your Doctor, your treating doctor will guide you about this.
Stick to your treatment plan and schedule regular follow up with your Gynecologist, so that she can do a Physical examination, Ultrasound scan and if necessary Hysteroscopy to know the size of fibroids or if there is any new growth.
If they are not responding to medicines and are still symptomatic, your Doctor may try with other hormonal drugs. If they are resistant to them also, then she might ask you to conceive. After the delivery, she might do any of the following surgical procedures to remove them:
1.) Myomectomy, that is removal of the Fibroid either through Open abdominal surgery, Laparoscopically or Hysteroscopically.
2.) tissue.
3.) Burning it using heat or Microwave energy.
Your treating doctor will know which procedure will suit you better if at all he/she considers it necessary.
Since you are anemic, eat healthy nutritious balanced diet which should include fresh fruits and XXXXXXX leafy vegetables. Exercise regularly and maintain a healthy weight. Avoid stress and Practice relaxation techniques like yoga and meditation.
Hope I have answered your Query, I will be available to answer your follow up Queries.
Wish you Good Health.
Take Care.
Thank You for Writing Back.
Your History clearly points to the Uterine Fibroids and it is absolutely treatable and wont cause any hindrance for you to conceive.
There is no need for you to put up with the pain and heavy bleeding while you have the availability of Doctors and Medicines. You can enjoy your life as others do and after all it's your life and you have the right.
If you can't tolerate Hemostatics, kindly do not take it.
You can continue with the Oral Contraceptive Pills as directed by your Doctor, stick to your treatment plan and go for regular follow up. This will definitely help you.
I would like to tell you few things here:
1.) Just follow the lifestyle changes which I had suggested you earlier.
2.) Schedule your regular check up, follow the orders of your treating Doctor and work along with him/her accordingly.
3.) Learn more about this condition, this will help you stick to your treatment plan and will help you understand your condition better, thereby helping you stick to your treatment.
I Wish you very Good Health.

Celist is known to cause, longer, more regular periods, Breast tenderness. It is not related to your Fibroids.
You are passing clots as a result of Hormonal Imbalance, during which Uterine wall becomes thick, because of which you pass more clots. Not to worry as you may experience these symptoms for 1 to 2 weeks.
If they get Prolonged, it would be better to see a Gynecologist so that she may examine you and rule out the exact cause for Passing of clots.
When the Cramps are severe you can apply heat pads and also take an anti spasmodic after speaking to your Doctor.
Hope this answers your query.
Wish you Good Health.

Good to hear from you again.
Breakthrough Bleeding normally happens for 5 days to maximum 2 weeks. You can just wait for them to stop on their own since they are not heavy. The duration of bleeding varies from person to person and also the severity of Hormonal Imbalance.
The bleeding is not related to you taking the pill after 1st day of your Period.
If they don't stop, you can speak to your Doctor and start taking the pill as usual until your Holiday is over.
Hope this answers your Query.
Wish you Good Health.
Good to hear from you once again.
After the Pill is stopped, the withdrawal bleeding lasts for 5 days to two weeks but in your case, since you have a Fibroid, it causes prolonged menstrual bleeding for a week to 3 weeks along with passage of clots.
I would suggest don't start back on the pill until your Doctor confirms it, go visit your Doctor so that he/she can examine you once again and thinks of other treatment options in your case including surgical options which I have mentioned in my first reply. Until the Fibroid is removed there are chances that you may flood again and again.
Kindly don't wait for anything, see your Doctor at the earliest as constant bleeding may make you anemic and cause difficulty conceiving.
Wish you all the very best and very Good Health.
Take Care.
Best Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Tauseef.
