Pregnant. Found High TSH Level. Any Effect On Fetal Development?
And we are planning to consult doctor tomorrow for this high TSH levels........... Does this level (7.5) hava any effect on foetal development...
First of all congratulations to the parents to be.
Thyroid hormone is critical to normal development of the baby’s brain and nervous system. During the first trimester, the fetus depends on the mother’s supply of thyroid hormone, which comes through the placenta. At around 12 weeks, the baby’s thyroid begins to function on its own.
It is good that you have decided to visit a doctor. It is advisable that you consult endocrinologist in your city on advice of your doctor.
The doctor after evaluation will decide to give treatment or not. Please follow his advice and go for regular thyroid hormone estimation during pregnancy.
Do not worry; with medicines taken as per advice, there will be no problem.
Wishing her good health and happy parenting.
