Severe Gas In A Child. Why Is He Wheezing With Gas Problem? Why Are They Smelling Bad?
Thank you for this query. I think he is a normal baby ... most normal babies pass gas from both ends! If the baby is on breast-feeds only, the stool may smell of curds. If he is on top-feeds, he may have smellier stools, but still they will be like the smell of curds. Gas expulsion and burping usually occur with or immediately after a feed. If the child is otherwise growing well and has no pain, you do not need to start any medicines. Otherwise, please start him on one of the anti-colic medications available in the market.
As to his respiratory problem, my feeling is that he has a nose block secondary to a viral cold. Try instilling saline nose drops every few hours in each of his nostrils to relieve his breathing difficulty. If a pediatrician has already confirmed that he has a wheeze, he will need administration of antibiotics and treatment of his wheeze with bronchial dilating medicines under the guidance of the pediatrician.
