Severe Pain And Nausea After Wisdom Tooth Extraction. Taking Oxycodon, Ibuprofen And Amoxicillin. Diagnosed With Ulcers. Further Treatment?
Question: My 16 year old son was scheduled to have all 4 wisdom teeth extracted and #31 (cracked playing basketball - infected). The surgeon removed the wisdom teeth but forgot to extract #31. This was 6 days ago. We were seen this morning - worsening pain, nausea - he as been taking 2 oxycodon, 1 ibuprofen and amocillin 3 X daily. The examination today revealed ulcers at the site of incision on the bottom. He is going back in the morning to see the surgeon who performed the extractions.
Dear,
Thank you for the query.
Few people have the tendency to develop ulcers at the site of injury (Instrumentation while attempting to remove the wisdom tooth), that may be the cause in your son's case. Such ulcers will heal with 4-7 days, for the symptomatic relief you can locally apply anesthetic and pain relieving gel 4-6 times/day. Nausea may be due to medication, if required your surgeon may change or discontinue the medication. For pain you can take Paracetamol tablets 2-3/day (Once in 6-8hrs) till you XXXXXXX surgeon.
Wishing you speedy recovery, Hope I have answered to your satisfaction, if yes kindly accept the answer; if not you are most welcome with further queries.
