Should I Have Surgery For Rectal Prolapse?

was told can have surgery but may lose control of holding back feces. please advise
Surgery is the final solution after proctologist evaluation
Detailed Answer:
Hi my dear,
I have gone through your medical history and the photo you provided carefully and can say as following :
From the photo and your last visit to the doctor, it seems that indeed, it is not hemorrhoids. Instead, it is a case of rectal prolapse.
Aging is one factor (by age, the muscles of pelvic floor get weaken) although yours is not that old to taken as first and main cause.
If you have given birth or suffering of constipation, these can be possible causes too.
Anal sex and lifting heavy weights are other causes to consider.
The first line of treatment consists of advising patients to :
- avoid constipation
- avoid too much straining or for too long
- Kegel's exercise to strengthen the muscles of pelvic floor
- can push inside the prolapsed part (if not painful )
However, everything depends on the severity of prolapse :
- if partial can continue with changes as mentioned above
- if full bowel is detached, then surgery is to consider.
Surgery is the final solution. However, a proctologist is to be consulted to evaluate your case further and to decide whether you need surgery and what type.
Hope it answered to your original query.
