Are Staples Used For Rectal Prolapse Causing Bleeding And Ulcerative Colitis?

I had a rectal prolapse procedure done about 5 years ago, using some kind of tool with staples. Since then I have developed ulcerative colitis and have had problems ever since. The gastroenterologist. Says the staples are healed, but I bleed often and pass mucus and I am always irritated in the rectal area. Can these staples be removed and is this a sign my body is rejecting the staples.?

Hi,

Please check it out it may be due to irritation of anal mucosa or dysentery or inflammatory bowel disease, etc. Until examination is done it is difficult to say what it is. Get it done stool examination and colonoscopy.

Avoid spicy food and alcohol, avoid caffeine drinks. Take soft diet with probiotics. If symptoms not improved please consult your doctor he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
