Should Steroid Dosage Be Increased For Increased CPK Levels?
Question: My ESR Levels from 80 , came down to 18 . But after reducing Wysolone from 10 Mg alternate days . It was further reduced to 5 MG alternate days . My CPK Levels gone up from 100 to 456. Normal range is 308. My doctor advised to take CPK & SGOT after 2 weeks. Should the steroid to be increased to 10MG alternative days. Last 6 months i am in 5 Mg alternate days . Any side effects on using this lesser Mg steriod.
Wysolone - 30 MG for 60 days , dropped week on week currently at 5mg alternate days . Calicum 500 mg , Vitamin tablet . Current ESR -18 , CPK - 456 ( Normal 308).

I am taking Steroid alternate Day - 5 Mg - Wysolone .
I have been diganoised - LE TUMIDUS 2 year back - DLE - Mucin creation . My ANA was + ve. But i have taken ANA DNA -SLE is negative .
Medication was only HCQS - once a day .
Last year , i was diagnonised dermatomyositis / Polymyositis . CPK -1080 and ESR-80. I had Wysolone 30 mg for 2 months , later tapperred slowly to 5mg alternative days,. My CPK was normal , till i used 10 mg alternative days.
Now during my recent Blood Test , CPK had claimed to 456 , But ESR Levels at 18.
Should Steroid to be increased from 10 Mg alternative days (or) continue with same 5Mg steroid alternate days.

Change in body enzyme levels is common in such disorders.
Steroid therapy is must but steroids need to be tapered, else your bones will get affected.
Dont worry about rise in CPK levels.
Repeat the result after a week, if the value remains high or increases then there is need to increase the dose of steroid.
