Smoker And Occasional Drinker. Passing Loose Stool With Small Pieces In It. Medical Cure?

Question: Hi Doctor,
My Husband excercies regularly at the GYM and has a good physique. For as long as he remembers he has been passing stool very thin, small pieces and accompanied with wind. I let him know that it is not normal and usually it should be solid but not hard. He has been a avid smoker and consumes Alcohol occasionally. Could you please recommend if we should run tests to see if all is normal with his stomach?

Thank you Dr. Kini. The answers to all your questions is no!
Hi,
Thin stool could be due to irritable bowel syndrome or due to obstruction of the bowel.
