Stopped Alcohol. Noticed Yellowish Skin And Eye. How Long It Takes For Cure?

Thank you for posting a query.
Look, alcohol is a very toxic agent when it is taken for long time in increased amount. Most importantly, it has bad effect on liver. Because, metabolism of alcohol takes place in liver.
So, when there is a chronic alcohol intoxication, the first organ which gets injured is liver. When hepatocellular injury occurs, it is manifested as icterus that means yellowish discoloration of skin, conjunctiva, urine, etc.
In this situation, just getting off alcohol will not help to improve the condition overall.
A liver function test has to be done to look for hepatocellular injury. In that case, treatment should be targeted to lower the effect of injury. In the absence of any liver injury, just getting off the alcohol will help to lower the skin color.
Lastly, consult with your treating doctor about the liver function test. The next step will be determined on the basis of liver function test.
The time required for normalization of skin color can be told only after the liver function test.
Hope this information suffices. Let me know, if you have any more question.
Regards.
