Suffer Chronic Constipation. Laxative Dependent. Recommended Fiber Rich Food. Suggest Solution?
I am chronically severely constipated and I suspect now laxative dependent. Pretty much all oral laxatives have no effect on me. I am reluctant to use anal laxative suppositories because they are not part my culture.
I have seen my GP who has recommended a better diet, obviously XXXXXXX in fibre, fruit and vegetables, less meat (which I eat very little of anyway as I prefer fish and seafood). She has also recommended a squeezed lemon a day which I am having. She has also recommended that I have a thyroid test. I also intend to make myself a large mixed fruit fresh smoothie per day. My lifestyle is fairly sedentary as I do not work at present but the situation was the same when I did work long hours 6 days a week.
Can you suggest any solution to my problem, in particular through the use of natural products?
Grateful for your answer,
XXXXXXX
You are having chronic constipation.
Since you have already taken lots of laxative and some of them may be of no use to you so I will advise some natural remedy which I find very useful in my patients
1.Continue with high fibre diet (may be psyllium fibres) and lots of liquid in your diet
2.Take triphala powder one teaspoon with warm water or for better result mix it with honey and take it at time of sleep at night and one teaspoon in early morning empty stomach
3.Avoid foods that contain maida.
4. Take meals at least 3-4 hours before going to bed.
5. Take lots of fruits and vegetables daily
6. Add condiments like jeera, haldi and ajwain in your diet as these all help in digestion
