Question: spouse has intractable hiccups, we have seen multiple docs and used all the usual pharma,
any expertise out there?
he has GERDS and digestive issues

The hiccups are spasmodic contractions of the diaphragm (the breathing muscle). Some common causes are dyspepsia, kidney failure, some neurological diseases, pathology near the diaphragm (the breathing muscle), phrenic nerve irritation in the neck and thorax.

Is GERD adequately treated?
How often in a day the hiccups occur?
Are any of the above causes considered earlier?
Can you please elaborate on the digestive problems?
Is there any swelling on the legs or a known kidney problem?
