Suffering With Leg Water Retention. Suggest Some Home Treatment
Question: i went to the hospital with leg water retention, but there was nothing wrong
with me ... and they didn't know what caused the retention, so i went home
and used
after day two:_
- reparil 40 for two days
stopped two days
- moduretic for two days
stopped again after having high blood pressure (160/100)
stopped for one day
and now started reparil again
can i use home treatment for leg water retention.
i don't know what to do with my inflated leg.

Hi friend
Welcome to Health Care Magic
Oedema (‘water retention’) usually affects both sides.
If it is due to a systemic cause, like Heart, Kidney or liver, it MUST occur in both legs.
If it is only in one leg - as you say - it must have a local cause.
In such cases, the usual cause is venous obstruction – like thrombosis.
It may also be venous insufficiency (incompetent valves).
Less commonly, it can be lymphatic obstruction.
You need to do some blood tests – like D-dimer, FDP (Fibrin Degradation Products) – if thrombosis is suspected.
You need to have DOPPLER study of the lower extremity veins (and arteries, some times) in both situations.
Thrombosis could be XXXXXXX – because of the possibility of Pulmonary Embolism (A clot getting dislodged and blocking lung blood vessel). The best solution is to GET ADMITTED TO A MULTI-SPECIALITY TERTIARY CARE HOSPITAL (mustashfa) of your area. You will need a referral from your local clinic (mustausif). There are specialists in Vascular Diseases, in XXXXXXX hospital.
You are very young. If the blood pressure is high, as you say, you need extensive INVESTIGATIONS TO FIND OUT A CAUSE for the pressure. Again, the hospital setting will take care.
Take care
Wishing speedy recovery
God bless
Good luck

Dear Dr. Anantharamakrishnan ,
thank you for your fast and informative replay.
when i went to the Amiri hospital the first time they did lower extremity doppler
and complete blood test.
test that came out negative (no sign of any abnormalities)
they told just stay home and if you felt pain come back.
thanks, XXXXXXX

Dear Mr XXXXXXX
Amirie hospital is very good and has all facilities.
It is a relief that the Doppler and blood tests were negative.
Keep following up.
You may have to repeat them - if there is pain or worsening.
Avoid any 'medicine' until a definite diagnosis is made.
There is no problem by the swelling itself. The problem if any, is from its cause.
Investigate your blood pressure, in the mean time
