Suggest OTC Medicine For Pain During Urination
Question: hi, my son is 13 and told me this morning it hurts when he pees. Is there anything over the counter he can take, like when wome have yeast infections they give you medicine and a cream.. anything like that for him?

Welcome To HCM. I am Dr Anshul Varshney. I understand your concern.
The burning during micturation needs evaluation of the cause and the treatment is directed accordingly.
The most common reasons at his age are Urinary Tract infection secondary to Stones in the renal Tract , Phimosis and local trauma.
So a local examination by a doctor is required to rule out trauma and phimosis. If no local cause found he would require an Ultrasound Abdomen and Urine examination.
If Urinary Tract infection is found he will be treated with antibiotics. If stones are found they will be treated according to the size and site of the stone.
In my opinion you should not be trying these creams at home as they won't be helpful. Take him to a doctor for evaluation.
Till he gets medical help he should consume plenty of fluids. He may take Urinary alkalizer available OTC till then.
