Is It Safe To Take Diflucan For Oral Yeast Infection?

I am taking Penicillin vk for a strep throat infection, however, the antibiotics have led me to a yeast infection. Is it safe to take Diflucan for the yeast infection at the same time? The antibiotics are on day 5 out of 8 so I am painfully waiting for the antibiotics to run their course first

Otolaryngologist / ENT Specialist 's  Response
Hi,

Is it possible to step up to a higher antibiotic for strep throat infection. Since it loos like there is no response to Penicillin VK. Yeast infections are due to reduced local immunity. Try frequent oral rinsing with antiseptic lotions, local anti-fungal lotions 2-3 times daily. Yes. Diflucan will help to reduce local yeast infection.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
