Suggest Alternate Over The Counter Medication For Cymbalta

Question: My doctor has closed his office. I have been on Cymbalta for fibromyalgia for 9 years. I am going to run out this week and can not get an appointment with anyone for a month. Can I just stop taking it? I have been on 60 mg. once a day for 9 years.
Brief Answer:
Abrupt stoppage might result in withdrawal symptoms
Detailed Answer:
Hello thanks for asking from HCM
I can understand your concern. Abrupt stoppage of the drug after regular intake will result in withdrawal symptoms, so I'd not advise you to stop taking it suddenly. You have a week supply and in such case to minimise the symptoms I'd advise you to reduce the dose to 30 mg per day for next two weeks and then stopping it. This will reduce the risk of withdrawal. If you have 60 mg capsules only then it's not possible to reduce the dose and in such case start taking it on alternate days to prevent the risk.
If possible find a doctor and take proper prescription of tapering the doses.
Thanks
