Suggest Alternative Medication For Clonazepam

default
Posted on Fri, 8 Sep 2017
Question: I am presently using clonazepam prescribed to help me sleep. Unfortunately this medication does not help me sleep, but makes me extremely tired the next day. Is there a drug similar to this drug that might work better for me. This drug was prescribed for me by doctor I've been seeing for chronic lower back pain. I am also taking kadian and percocet.

Brief Answer:
Amitriptyline can be used.

Detailed Answer:
Hello thanks for asking from HealthcareMagic,

I can understand your concern. You have tried Clonazepam and the sleep is not improving. You have tried Sonata and Ambien and the problem is still there.

In that case, we can think of using drugs like Amitriptyline or Mirtazapine for sleep. These are antidepressants and help to provide sound sleep. A low dose of Amitriptyline along with Clonazepam will help in sound sleep. The drug is safe to use and has no abuse potential. You can talk with your doctor about these drugs.

Thanks and Take care
