Question: I was diagnosed with bronchitis yesterday and prescribed a cough medicine with codeine. It has not stopped my coughing at all - I don't notice any relief at all. Is there something over the counter I can purchase?

Thank you for contacting HCM with your health care concerns

I am sorry to hear that you are having such a difficult time with a cough associated with bronchitis. Despite your use of codeine cough syrup you are still coughing. I have found that Delsym cough suppressant to be the best option to reduce cough. You may also look into a decongestant if you hare having nasal congestion as the post nasal drip may also be contributing to your cough.

There is not much else available OTC that will stop cough.

I hope I answered your question. Please contact us again if you have any additional questions
