Suggest Alternative Medication For Effexor

Question: I am currently taking 50-100mg tramadol for back pain a day. I stopped taking my Effexor, 75 mg twice a day, because the interaction made me very sick. I am needing to be back on an antidepressant though. What is your suggestion?

An excellent antidepressant that is also used to treat chronic back pain, similar to Effexor, is Cymbalta, which is typically dosed up to 60mg daily. There is no major problematic interaction with Tramadol. If I were your doctor, this is the medication I would start immediately.
