Suggest Alternative Medication For Excedrin Taken For Headache

Question: I am starting to go through menopause. I have depression, racing thoughts, anxiety and some others. My social life has really gone down. I don't feel like seeing people. I actually have become more of a recluse.
I started taking Estroven to help with my moods. This has helped a lot. The weirdest thing is when I take Excedrin for my headaches, I feel absolutely wonderful. I feel happy, positive and very social. The world is instantly a better place and I can take on all the issues and problems of everyday life. Why is this? Is this a sign that I have some kind of chemical imbalance? Is there something I can take in place of this to make me feel like this all the time?

Brief Answer:
Hormonal changes; cymbalta.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Welcome to HCM.
I can understand your concerns.

Mood changes are common during perimenopause. Estrogen is helping you to deal with mood changes.

Excedrin contains caffeine which is a stimulant. This probably uplifts your mood and you are able to cope with your daily life stressors.

This does not indicate that there is any chemical imbalance in you.

Such kind of symptoms are very common in females nearing menopause. These are probably due to body undergoing hormonal changes.

In my opinion, you can keep taking Excedrin occasionally for headaches.
I would suggest you to take a low dose antidepressant like cymbalta (prescription drug). This will help you to deal with your perimenopausal symptoms as well as lift your mood.

Kindly discuss this with your doctor.

Hope this helps.

Thanks.
