Brief Answer:
it takes a while

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for your question.
It takes a while for the antibiotics to start working and ease off the ear pain. In the mean time you can take motrin or tylenol for the pain. Using warm moist compresses over the ears can help ease off the pain as well. Stay well hydrated and take some pain medication like the motrin around the clock for the next few days until it eases off. Use motrin or tylenol only in doses stated on the bottles.
I hope you feel better soon.
