Brief Answer:
Hello
Detailed Answer:
Dear
Thanks for contacting Ayurveda with your health concern and following
is/are Ayurveda Management for the disease concerned.
1. As you are in stage 3 of CKD [chronic kidney disease] do let me know about your GFR [glomerular filtration rate] and latest levels of urea and creatinine on which the Ayurveda Do’s and Dont’s will depend.
2. since disease has progressed to stage 3 thus problem with
high blood pressure, impaired blood sugar, low blood count [hemoglobin] and bone disorders [calcium/phosphorus, parathormone [PTH] ] are commonly seen, thus do let me know about their values.
3. what is/was the opinion of attending Nephrologist?
4. Thyroid hormones increase the renal blood flow and the glomerular filtration rate (GFR), thus
Hypothyroidism is associated with reduced GFR , reduced urine concentrating ability [as suggested by your history of low hypothyroidism
5. recent studies have linked an association between low thyroid and asthma [sub clinical hypothyroidism] and
renal failure can be a cause for asthma since people with kidney disease have low immunity and thus prone to lung infections and viruses thus apart from treating kidney
disease Immuno modulation is also necessary.
6. following guidelines for CKD are provided
i. Avoid potassium in food/diet: like tomato, papaya, cheese, FRUIT JUICES, coconut water, banana, potato, soybean, mulethi [glycirhiza glabra], raisins, dried apricots, spinach, grapes]
ii. protein diet is advisable, but if
serum creatinine is high, protein rich diet is avoided instead protein with essential amino aid is given [albumin infusion]
iii. calcium can be given [milk, guava] but again after confirming with calcium levels.
iv. restrict sodium intake [if blood pressure is high] BUT low thyroid cause low sodium levels so check with your attending Doctor as to whether it should be taken or not, as for now in kidney disease, sodium [salt] is avoided thus exclude high salt diet [pickles, chutney, wafers, sauce, salted biscuits, pop corns, refined and processed foods, pain killers]
v. diet low in
saturated fat and cholesterol.
vi. since anemia in CKD is resistant to conventional therapy thus
Erythropoietin injection is the choice.
vii. limit phosphorus intake if levels are high.
viii. The Ayurveda treatment of CKD is based on
(i) treatment of diseased kidneys: with use of punarnva preparations, gokshura preparations,
chandraprabha vati, daruharidra, neem, patol [since these are prescription drugs you may contact an Ayurveda Physician there
(ii) treatment of dhatus from which kidneys are formed: i.e. correction of rakta [blood] and XXXXXXX [fat] dhatu with drugs having similar properties: saariva, mustak, kutki, XXXXXXX guduchi and more
and
(iii) treatment of the known cause i.e. “nidan parivarjan” which will depend after careful clinical examination and Investigations
Hope I have given due care in taking up your query, any suggestions are welcome
