Suggest Alternative Treatment For Cavities In The Teeth

Question: are there any alternatives to drilling and fillings. my cavities do not show up on the x Ray. it's visible. however some cavities have not got any worse for over 5 years and have stayed the same. other cavities are getting worse slowly but still do not show up on the X-ray. are fillings needed? are there alternative treatments other than drilling and filling?

I have read your query and understand your concern . As far as cavities in concerned restoration (filling) of cavities is necessary . See what happened is cavity usualy do not hurt unless it grows deep and progress in dentin and pulp region of teeth. As your cavities are not visible on xray film this might be due to xray film is not postioned correctly or due technical or processing errors in radigraph . Bitewing xray is the standard type of image that's used to look of cavities .

For this I will suggest you to consult oral surgeon if possible go for removal of unsupported enamel and dentin with hand instrument (spoon excavator) othen then using Rotatory instrument (drilling) then go for restoration of cavities with material like composite , glass inomer cement or Amalgam as early as possible . As restoration (filling) of cavities is necessary there is no other alternative . Maintain good oral hygiene to prevent cavities . Use chlorhexidine mouthwash regularly .
