Question: i have blood loss due to HHT or OWR syndrome. the doctors have looked with upper and lower cameras and find no major bleeding to zap. The doctors think my blood is seeping through my intestines. They have no suggestions on diet. where can I find a list of food that will be the least abrasive to my digestive tract?

Brief Answer:
ĺYou need low fiber diet..details below.

Detailed Answer:
Hi Bxxxxxxxx9,
Thanks for using Health care magic for your health concern.
HHT is a rare genetic disorder which causes abnormal blood vessels in skin &mucus membrane..in your case it seems to be mucus membrane of gastrointestinal tract.
* In such condition you should take low roughage diet apart from routine check ups of gastrointestinal affections to avoid - ..infection/infestations or food allergies.. which can aggravate blood supply to GIT mucus membrane &increase leaking of blood.(regular check up of Hb% & stools exam for blood in it..)
-Iron suppliment, needful blood transfusions or surgrleries form the treatment strategy (to be decided by treating doctor)
* About less abrasive diet -Though you are taking less abrasive/low roughage diet.. be careful to avoid malnutrition ... it must contain (or supplimented by)..
sufficient carbohydrates as energy supplier (refined hot cerels, boiled white rice, pancakes /waffles of refined flour)
Proteins to support body maintainance..............(restricted milk or dairy products... excessive may cause upset in digestion)/tender meat,fish...( rich in vitamins&omega 3 fatty acids)
Vitamins in form of nicely cooked vegetables /fruits..where fibers are converted in digestible form/clear fruit juices/veg. soups)added with curds/lactobacillus suppliments in liquid form
*drinking sufficient (plain&potable) water is essential.
*Low roughage diet may cause constipatuon (because of lack of fibers)...regular exercises...yoga exercises for abdomen &walking....& sufficient water would help regular bowel movements.
Addition of mild stool softner with advise of treating doctor may be taken as per need.
I hope that helps you.Any other information
you want please don't hesitate to ask.
Thank you.
