Brief Answer:
About Diabetes treatment;

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for asking!

To judge if the actual treatment for Diabetes is right for you, you need to check HbA1c level.
It shows the mean glucose level of the last three months.

If it is under 7% and you do not have episodes of low blood sugar ( glucose under 70 mg/ dl) it may be the right treatment.

You should also have normal liver and renal function to take Metformin and Gliclazide.
If you are overweight Gliclazide does not help much, as it may cause weight gain and does not help to loose it.
There are other medications that may substitute Gliclazide if you are overweight.

G6PD deficiency needs to avoid some medications ( the treatment you are taking for Diabetes is not on the list to be avoided) and keto acidosis (that happens more often in type 1 Diabetes) may cause hemolytic anemia in patient with G6PD deficiency.

So, you should check HbA1c to decide if the treatment you are taking is keeping normal glucose levels.

Hope the information will help. Feel free to ask further.

Kind regards,
Dr.Mirjeta
