Brief Answer:
Sunscreen and skin lightening agents

Detailed Answer:
Hello. Thank you for writing to us.

I have gone through your query and I have understood your concern.

Skin tone is determined by factors like environmental sun exposure, genetics and race of an individual.
Melanin content of skin is a result of combination of these factors.
While it is not possible to change genetic make up and race of an individual it is possible to modify environmental factors like sun exposure and the role they play in skin darkening.

You may restrict sun exposure.
In addition to that you may also use a sunscreen, throughout the day.
Sunscreens like Sebamed's sunscreen Spf 50+ can be applied on all exposed skin, every 2-3 hourly, throughout the day, specially when outdoors.

In addition to sun protection you may use a cream containing one or more skin lightening agents like kojic acid, glycolic acid, hydroquinone etc.
These active ingredients are present in various creams e.g kojilite cream, kojilite h crean, demelan cream etc.
These creams are available on prescription and should be used as instructed. Unsupervised use can lead to side effects like irritation.

In addition to these you may also opt for a few sessions of chemical peeling from a dermatologist. A session of peel is usually performed once every 2-3 weeks.
Glycolic peel and Yellow peel are quite useful to lighten up dark skin tone/ pigmentation.

Ingredients present in facewashes like glycolic acid, lactic acid too can help disperse excess superficial melanin and thus improve tone as well as complexion. Facewashes for thus purpose would usually contain ingredients like 2% glycolic acid, 5% lactic acid.

A few words of caution: These products should be used only as instructed. Unsupervised use can lead to inappropriate use and side effects like irritation.

I suggest that you visit a dermatologist in your region for more details regarding treatment approach and for the needful. You may share this discussion with your treating dermatologist.

Brief Answer:
Sunscreen and Skin lightening cream

Detailed Answer:
Hi.

I can broadly outline the treatment along with a few examples. The exact treatment would be possible after visiting a dermatologist in person.

If I was the treating doctor I would suggest a Salicylic acid, glycolic acid face wash e.g AHA Glow face wash gel, is one such face wash which can be used, once or twice daily
Salicylic acid would help control oil and glycolic acid would hep exfoliate excess melanin.

You must use Sebamed sunscreen lotion spf 50 +, throughout the day, every 2-3 hours e.g 8 AM, 11 AM, 2 PM specially if outdoors.

At night, in my patients with skin darkening/ pigmentation, I would normally suggest a cream containing skin lightening agents i.e kijic acid, glycolic acid, arbitin etc e.g Kojilite cream Or demelan cream are a few examples.

Yes, chemical peeling and dermabrasion (skin polishing) would be really helpful for you in addition to sunscreen and skin lightening agents.

I suggest that you give a go ahead to treatment only after consulting a dermatologist in person and under his/her supervision because a visual impression of your concern would help in more specific treatment and better results.
