Brief Answer:
Yes you need to get tested

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for choosing health care magic for posting your query.
I have gone through your question in detail and I can understand what you are going through.
ADD is a common co-morbid condition with depression, OCD and anxiety disorder. Its very common and frequently missed by many doctors. Many a times ADD is diagnosed and treated separately along with the treatment of depression, anxiety and OCD. The diagnosis of ADD is made after formal face to face evaluation of the patient along with info from your parents.
Do get a psychiatry appointment fixed and get the formal assessment done. If diagnosed vyvannse can be helpful in ameliorating your symptoms.
Hope I am able to answer your concerns.
If you have any further query, I would be glad to help you.
If not, you may close the discussion and if possible you may rate the answer for me, so that I get a good feedback.

Thank you for your response. I did find an office near by offering mental health services. I have had a psychiatrist for 6 years and I chose to leave her because I felt as if she was my "friend" and it was interfering in an indirect way and I don't feel I was responding to her recent treatment approach/plan. It's unfortunate because she was excellent initially. She still is, it may just be me. I feel as if I disappoint her when I talk to her. She helped me immensely throughout my battle with Post Partum Depression. She specializes in that area. With that being said, I am now on a search to see if it is an attention problem that I may have. However, as I'm reading about medications for ADD, they are all stimulants. Are there any non stimulant medications that have worked to treat ADHD/ADD? Also, I have read that the stimulant type of medications can actually not be healthy. I haven't ever struggled with addiction, however, I do remember being concerned with my anxiety medicine, I was using more then I should have been after my son was born. I was suppose to be taking it as needed, and it was needed everyday. I just slowly tapered down and now keep it close by, if I should need it. I don't know what my next question would be, other the , what other kinds of meds and or treatments, supplements have been shown helpful to control the impulsivity behaviors and innattwntiveness of attention problems??? ANY insight? Thano again. Also, are you allowed to give referrals of aNY sort. Any dr recommendations?
Also, where can I rate your answer? I want to give it all stars because you helped me ease my mind. I did not know adults could have add and or adhd. I'm not diagnosing myself, but, I almost feel as if someone has lifted a weight off of my shoulders. When I read the brochure for Vyvannse I almost cried. I struggle everyday just to stay afloat. It's a constant battle between laundry never getting finished. Leaving water running, missing appointments, losing money, credit cards, daydreaming while driving, it's just not fun. I have gotten to the point where I don't even want to do anything for fear of messing up.
I just wish I could find a good, intelligent dr that will take to me with me and not just send me on my way with amphetamines. I have taken phentermine in the past before my wedding to lose weight and that's also a stimulant. I remember acruelly feeling so calm and comfortable in my own mind for those 6 months. But, then when I learned the side effects from the phentermine, I stopped them. I didn't want to hurt myself or make myself sick just to quickly lose some weight.

Brief Answer:
Guanfacine

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Stimulants are good treatment options and are safe as well.
If you don't want a stimulant, then guanfacine is a good option. You may discuss this options with yor psychiatrist as well as it is as effective as stimulant. Bupropion is also a good option among the treatment options for ADD.
You will get the option to rate the answer after you close the discussion.
Kind regards.
