Suggest Diet Plan When Suffering From Pancreatitis
acute pancreatitis limited food
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for contacting HCM with you health care questions.
I see you have been recently diagnosed with having acute pancreatitis. This is where the active enzymes for digestion is leaking into the pancreas. This can be caused by alcohol and by gall stones in the pancreatic duct. If this occurs then anytime you eat the pancreas may become more inflamed. Usually with pancreatitis we have people go on a liquid only diet for a few days then gradually increase the diet to more solid foods. I would recommend for the first 2 days eating or drinking only beef or chicken broth or Jello. Then on the 3rd day start eating bland foods like cereal and toast. By the 4th day you can start introducing regular foods and see if you can tolerate them. If though in the process of eating or drinking you develop increased abdominal pain then you need to stop. You may need to seek medical attention and be placed on IV nutrition while your pancreas heals.
In summary
1. Don't eat if your stomach hurts
2. Liquid diet broth and Jello
3. Bland diet cereal or toast
4. Stop all alcohol
5. Seek medical attention if your pain does not improve
