I have carefully worked through your case, and can well realize your health worries. Being your physician, I will take care all of your medical concerns today and will put my best efforts to get you out of this situation.


It depends on the site and size of the tissue involved in abscess. Secondly we also have to see if Amoxicillin is best suited according to the causative agent involved in this abscess. Same is true for the duration of the treatment for amoxicillin.


Usually for a mild infection we recommend taking 500 mg twice, or 250 mg thrice.
For more severe infection we go for 875 mg twice or 500 mg thrice.

Last but not least; there is a difference in abscess and cellulitis. In cellulitis the skin has its intact blood supply and antibiotics effectively reaches in that tissue area. But in abscess there are loculi filled up with cellular debris and pus; and, the antibiotics don't reach well effectively to the infected tissue due to having less or no blood supply. So, you also have to be considerate that Gold Standard management for abscess is Incision and Drainage not the antibiotics in the first place.
