Suggest Dosage Of Armour Thyroid While On 137mcg Of Levothyroxine

Question: I was at one time on Armour Thyroid...The pharmacy told me that the company had folded....so the doc put me on Synthroid and then some years later on levothyroxine 137 mcg. Now he has reduced it to 127mcg because I watch what I eat. Can I now go back to Armour Thyroid and how much do I take? XXXX
I have no Thyroid it was removed years (20) ago as it was the size of a cantalope with fingers and I couldn't breathe well.

Brief Answer:
Armour thyroid

You are wondering if you can switch back to Armour thyroid. You can and the dose would have to be readjusted depending on your response to the new dose. We usually start at 60mg and increase by 30mg until your thyroid levels are normalized. But I would ask why would you want to go back to Armour when the levothyroxine is working? You actually get better consistency between pills with the levothyroxine than the Armour. Armour thyroid is actually ground up pig thyroid crushed into pills and the doses are not as stable as the levothyroxine.
