Suggest Ideal Whey Protein Powder While On Exercise Regime

You answered my question yesterday but i am not able post a follow up question.
My question was regarding the use of Whey protein powder during exercise regime. My further questions are:
(a) Can you recommend a few brands for the Whey Protein powder? You mentioned to use the ones without additives.
(b) I use smart phone based apps for heart beat measurement. How accurate are these apps that use the phone cameras to measure the heat beat. Also what other devices do you suggest for accurate monitoring of heart beat ?

I pondered your question and my recommendations after I sent my answer to you and while working on a meal plan for you I think I can help you even further.

First, let me take care of your initial question. You need a powder that has few additives in it. It may contain up to 6 g of creatine and that is it. The term "isolated" in the whey name is important as isolated whey is 90% protein and does not have any of the lactose that I am suspicious you are sensitive to. In previous queries you have mentioned problems in this area of being gassy. And, don't go for advertisements about some wonderful compound that will create miracles. Just straight isolated whey powder. It may list the amino acids and that is fine.I do not know of any brands off hand and suggest you google isolated whey protein powders.Additionally, what is available in the US may not be available in your country. I am timed on these queries and would have to do some research for you.

I also think that making a protein shake at the end of your workout as a meal would be a good plan. You want to replace carbohydrates, but when I calculated your calories, the amount of carbohydrates you replace after exercise needs to be reduced slightly to accomodate for the lowered calories and the same with the protein. By the way, there has been no evidence of kidney disease resulting from a high protein intake unless you have kidney disease or some other illness already compromising your kidneys. You do not want to get your protein from red meat as previously told to you as you have high lipids.

Heart rate monitors? Do a quality check. Do you know how to take your pulse by finding the beat in the side of your neck or on the wrist? Take your own pulse and compare it to the reading on the device you have. That will tell you how accurate your device is.

You have three questions I thought as part of the specialist package you paid for. I would write management and inquire about it.

Can I go over the calorie calculations I did?
I used the Mifflin St. Jeor equation to come up with a basal energy requirement of 1,717 calories and when the activity factor was added in it came to 2, 361 calories. To lose 1.5 lbs per week, you would need to go down to 1600 calories per day with 20% protein (80 grams); 50% carbohydrates (200 g/day) and fat (limit to 53 g). Use of the protein powder should be restricted to the period of time on your weight loss plan. Combining the high protein with reduced calories will facilitate weight loss through the thermic effect of the protein. Normally, protein is kept at 15% of a normal diet.

Ginseng tea is often used in the am as an ergogenic aide and green tea aides in weight loss by increasing the metabolic rate. Ginseng has also been known to lower blood sugars.
