Suggest Lab Tests To Rule Out HSV-2
Question: What is an acurate test for diagnosing Herpes Type 2? My gynecologist made a swab test on four or five small bumps that I had on my hip. The result was Positive for Type 2 Herpes. Since I did not want to believe that result, I requested my primary doctor to do both a vaginal swab test and the PCR blood draw test. Each of these resulted in Negatives. I took the results back to the original gynecologist to discuss my confusion. He said that I definitely had Type 2 Herpes. He said that the virus would not show on the two other tests that I had because the virus stays in the nerves. If there was ever another outbreak, it would show up in the same area as the first.
Brief Answer:
Hello. I certainly understand your concern here
Detailed Answer:
First off, HSV virus doesn't have nerve involvement--that's herpes zoster which causes shingles and is the same as the chickenpox virus.
The most accurate test for you would be for the IgG and IgM herpes-directed antibodies in your blood.
From what you've told me so far, I doubt you have herpes
Let me know if you need any more information please

The Type 1 Herpes Virus that causes shingles tested negative in the original swab.
Could the slight burning around my vagina and anus area have caused the few tiny bumps on my hip? Since I have had antibiotics and various yeast medications with no real result over the last year, have you any idea what this burning could be and how to successfully treat it?
