Question: Diabetologist
Dear Doctor,
I am 72 year old male. I had Diabetes type II in the year 2010. Since then till recently i have been taking Glycomet 250 mg twice a day. But my fasting levels are always oscillate between 112 to 120. PP levels are always well below normal i.e less than 140 . Since my fasting levels are above normal, my physician has advised me to take 500 mg glycomet during night and 250 mg as usual in the morning after breakfast. I walk for 4 km every day. I have been taking higher dose from dec 2014. oflate, i am experiencing fall in sugar level around 12 am - an hour before taking meal . I take sugarless coffee twice in the morning and I take 4 idly in the morning at 8 .30 am . Then i take my lunch at 1 pm. Nothing in between breakfast and lunch. Again sugarless coffee at 3.30 pm. No snacks in the evening. I ll take 2 chapthis at about 8.30 pm. I am not able to strike a balance between my intake of medicine and my intake of food. I do not eat fruits right from my young age, as i do not like them. In this scenerio, kindly advise me how to balance my food and medicine

Brief Answer:
Get your HbA1c, add two more snack in between

Detailed Answer:
Dear sir greetings from HCM. I understand your concern. You are doing alright as I see your glucose levels.

You need to get your HbA1c, microalbuminuria and lipid profile done for better interpretation.
You need one snack around 10. 30 may be fiber biscuits/ nuts/ sprouts / millets or even cut vegetables or fruits. Break fast could be bit more heavy. Another snack in the evening also helps. Other wise no need to worry keep up your good health.

Feel free to ask more queries.

Thanks for contacting me.

Besides, i have sleep problem. Every day i go to sleep at 10 pm and wake up at 4 am. Some times i woke up at 2 am and not able to go back to sleep again. I sthis sleep problem connected to my number of medicines which i am taking. Shall itake 0 .25 mg trika every day? is there any harm?
