Suggest Medical Tests To Rule Out Scabies
Question: Can a doctor run a test to know if i still have scabies? If so what is the test and how long would it usually take?
Brief Answer:
Scabies is purely clinical diagnosis
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Scabies is purely clinical diagnosis by looking at the lesions and burrows over the webs, inner thighs, upper back, arm folds etc. It does not require a blood test. They can scrap the tissue and put under microscope to test and confirm.
However to test for subclinical scabies, PCR for scabies can be done along with IgE and Blood counts.
In al most all settings we generally do not test but will examine under magnifying glass to diagnose scabies.
