Suggest Medication For BPH
Management of BPH
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting HealthcareMagic,
There are several supplements available for treatment of BPH. However, I would like to mention that there is no data available proving the efficacy of supplements.
I will mention here both the supplements and prescription medications for BPH.
The supplements for BPH include:
-Beta sitosterol which is the active ingredient in Super beta you are already taking. This supplement does not shrink the prostate. However, it increases urine flow by relaxing muscles of bladder and prostate. Beta-sitosterol can interact with cholesterol lowering medications like Ezetimibe and Pravastatin decreasing its effectiveness.
-Rye pollen extract reduces the size of the prostate and increases urine flow. Some men experience erectile dysfunction while taking this supplement.
-Saw Palmetto does not decrease the prostate size but increases urine flow. Saw palmetto can affect clotting of blood. So taking it along with medications like aspirin, warfarin etc can increase bleeding risk.
Medications used for the treatment of BPH include alpha blockers (Flomax), 5 alpha reductase inhibitor (finasteride), the Phosphodiesterase inhibitor (Cialis).
If medications alone is not helping, Transurethral needle ablation (TUNA) or Transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP) is indicated.
Since you have very weak urine stream, I would recommend following up with a Urologist to undergo evaluation and get started on appropriate medications.
Regarding PSA, your PSA level is within normal limits.
Hope this answers your question
